About:
This project involved a comprehensive transformation of a Californian Bungalow through rear ground floor additions, renovation of the original rooms, and a new first floor extension, creating a light-filled contemporary family home centred around open-plan living.
The rear of the original home had become dark and inefficient due to its orientation and a series of piecemeal additions over time. In response, this portion of the house was entirely reconfigured and modernised to improve natural light, functionality, and spatial flow.
A new alfresco area and swimming pool, accompanied by a loggia, are positioned to either side of the home to make the most of northern sunlight and strengthen the connection between indoor and outdoor living.
At first floor level, a skylight brings natural light down through the stairwell, helping to illuminate the internal spaces and enhance the sense of openness throughout the home
